Carson, CA Sept. 16, - - - OWI introduces the second generation of its binary navigating robot kit. BINARY PLAYER ROBOT is very "predictable", two-wheeled robot. An internal program stored on a memory disk created by the user ascertains its predictability. Therein, lies the fun. Binary Player Robot is easily re-programmable by the controller… you. "The best products, the best hobby companies. Hobby Outlook Magazine has recognized Binary Player Robot as "2005 Best Educational Item". A panel of expert judges and readers of the highly acclaimed magazine selected it. Creative Child Magazine has selected it as "2005 Toy of the Year Award (Electronic Construction Toys category). "100 Best Children's Products" and "10 Best Hi Tech Products" awarded by the Children's Institute for Childhood Resources. WOW!

Binary Player Robot is controlled by black and white patterns on a disk, which are read by an infrared sensor. Particular patterns activate either of two wheels to turn left, right, forward, or pause. These on/off commands illustrate the basic principles of binary coding. To change a movement program, the operator simply creates a new disk pattern and/or changes the speed variation on the 3-speed gearbox. Parents love this item because their children can learn the fundamentals of binary system coding; determine the working specification of the robot; gain experience with a reprogrammable robot; solve programming problems. In fact, the programs are nothing more than a series of steps to produce a solution to a problem. Systematic and critical thinking skills are utilized.

Dr. OWIKIT says this is an excellent Beginner series robot. This battery-contr olled kit can teach the basic principles of robotic sensing and locomotion. It features a pre-assembled printed circuit board, hardware, and mechanical drive system that can be handled by almost anyone from age 10 and up. Only basic hand tools are required for assembly. An infrared sensor and printed circuit board controls your programmable friend. Binary Player Robot is more than just fun. Assembling, building, and following instructions help develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
