SHAPE SORTER
I am looking for a toy that can probably be classified as a shape sorter. When the proper shape is placed in the proper hole, the toy makes a distinct sound. The shapes are easy to hold and are in several bright colors. The only identification marking is "Bendt". The only one I know of was found at a yard sale some time ago. I work with visually impaired children. If you can help me, it would be appreciated both by myself, and the parents I work with.

I found a toy made by SKY KIDS. The cardboard packaging shows them in Cresskill, NJ, but I cannot locate them there. Basically, the toy is a crate/box that contains a mystery something that is trying to get out. You push a button on the crate/box, and a muffled voice says: Scuse me! SCUSE ME! SCUSE ME! Will you let me outta here? The crate/box shakes in your hand (or on the desk, with a rubber suction cup on the bottom) simulating something trying to get out of the box.

My name is Ross, and I am the Youth Minister at First Baptist Church of Center Point in Birmingham, Alabama. We have a student center that is equipped with all kind of interesting items. One used to be a toy called the Sky Racer. It was a car that ran on a plastic wire suspended from the ceiling. There was a claw on the bottom of the car which could be used to attach various things, and to deliver them to the front of the stage, much like a trolley. The Sky Racer took a corner a little to fast one night and jumped the track and fell to her death. Since then I have been looking for another one or something like it. Early in the 1990's one of my daughters received a Do-it-yourself kit entitled Small Fry Originals. This was a kit to make plates out of your child's drawing. My name is Candice. I teach at a Presbyterian School in Houston, TX. My colleague has a collection of manipulative-type interlocking puzzle-like pieces called Snap-art. They look like a typical two-head/two-hole puzzle piece with a circle in the center so the pieces can interlock horizontally and vertically. They come in rainbow colors and some with sparkles. The pieces are the size of the tip of my pinkie. I have searched the web and the stores with no success. Other information I have on Snap-art is as follows: They were originally made by Crafthouse Corp. In Toledo, OH 43607; the corporation was a division of RPM company. They were copyrighted in 1992. Another address I saw was CE, European Distributor, Dexim GMBH, 4980 Buende, Germany. This was written on the example creations cards that came with the sets. Do you have any information?

In the late 1980's I received a toy spaceship for Christmas but can't seem to remember the name of the company or the toy itself. My friend had a similar toy - Manta forve spaceship. Mine was very different from Manta Force because the only figure that the ship came with was a small pilot roughly 1.5 to 2 inches tall with moveable arm, legs, head and the legs were bendable (knee hinge joint). A memorable fact about the figure was that it had magnetic feet which could be attached to 2 parts of the spaceships external surface. The ship itself was a dull white colour with 3 sections. The first section was the cockpit - blue windscreen with hinge for opening. The cockpit was quite small and only one figure could fit in. The middle section was the largest, it had more space. The back section could be extended out (I reckon there was an electric motor in it to push it out). This section could be completly removed and an orange passenger seat part (which 4-6 men could sit on) was also removable. The back piece also had a spave for 4-6 missiles which I think could be fired out. Also the middle section had a turret gun on top that was quite flat and could only spin round- did'nt do anything else. If you have any idea what I'm talking about please get back to me as it was a very memorable toy of my childhood and I have'nt seen one so unique elsewhere. I could draw a picture of the ship as I remember it if you want.

SPRING ROCKING HORSE
I purchased a hedstrom spring rocking horse 3-4 years ago and throughout the years I was forced to e-mail hedstrom for replacement springs, since for some reason my son kept busting the front right spring. Anyway they would always send me replacement springs no questions asked. They have however seem to have gone out of business and I am now left with a horse with only 3 springs. I have searched everywhere for replacement springs with no luck. If i could ever find a replacement spring my son would be thrilled. He has asthma and used to take his ebuterol(sp?) through a mask on his horse and now it is difficult to get him to take it sitting still. your response is greatly apreciated.

Strawberry Shortcake dolls came out in the late 1970's or very early 1980's. I remember having a few of the toys that were manufactured by Kenner. At the time she was under copyright with a company called Those Characters from Cleveland. She appeared on greeting cards for American Greetings and Carlton cards, both of whom I've been in touch with. Carlton wrote me back saying that the company just recently dissolved. However, I know they made a small comeback in 1991; the toys were distributed by THQ Toy Distributors, and she was still under copyright with Those Characters from Cleveland. I'm a mother with two children. I want them to have an opportunity to play with these dolls. They are now collectibles and it is very difficult to pay the outrageous prices people are selling them for and also time consuming. I want to write to whoever has the ownership of the copyrights to Strawberry Shortcake, and ask what became of this doll and if they will ever make another comeback with her. I have had very few leads. I know this may sound trivial to some, but I really want to put my mind to rest and find out exactly what happened.

In the mid-1960's to early 1970's, we had wind-up tin toys. Each was approximately 5"-6" high & 2 1/2" - 3" wide, with a wind up mechanism in the shape of a hat on top of the toy. Each toy had two wheels on the bottom for locomotion (they stood upright and were characters). One of the characters looked like a cornstalk, with a smiling face. It is probably a requirement in that state to have it, and since they sell to all states, they need to have it. It is also possible that by having it from PA, a manufacturer then meets requirements in all states.

You said that you never heard of Milton Bradley making a machine gun, since they make board games. We have a Lionel Electric Train Outfit #1091W with 027 track. How old is this set, and what is it worth? It is in the original carton, and each car is in its original box. Your local hobby or train shop should have Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains. This book will tell you the value of your trains. Before you try to sell them, realize that a dealer will give you about 25-35% of that value, since they sell them at guide prices. The best bet is to sell them privately to get the best price. Brad.

We recently purchased an amazing castle set built by Trendmasters. It is a fantasy castle built in 1998 that opens up to reveal the interior and comes with lighted turrets. Greetings from Baseball Games. We found this question at the Dr. Toy website. We've no idea how long ago this question was asked, but for whatever it's worth, here's an answer: the patent date that appears on most Tru-Action Electric sports games made by Tudor Metal Products is indeed from 1939, but Tudor's Electric Football first hit the market in 1949 and Electric Baseball in the early 1950s. The patent number is actually for the "vibrating propelling device" the games use, patented by Eugene Levay in 1939. It does not indicate the age of the game itself. When I was growing up (1970's) there was a toy that was made up of what appeared to be two buckets or bowls upside down with strings attached to both of the bowls. I am trying to track down a toy I saw in a magazine when I was in junior high school in the 1980's. I don't know the name of it although it is very similar to the Skyrail Marble Roller Coaster that is on the market today, except smaller and marketed more towards older kids. The track tubing was light blue or white I think, and the Lego like construction pieces that made up the towers that held the tracks up were black. I do not even know what to call this toy, but I will describe it to you. It must have been around in the 1950's and 1960's. maybe later. It was two sticks that were connected at the top with string, and attached to the string was an acrobat or clown and when you squeezed the two sticks together with your hand, the clown would do somersaults.
